Admissions Information - From WCC Catalog

Career Programs/Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Students:*

Wayne Community College has a simple Four Step process to enroll in a Career (curriculum) Program to earn an associate degree, a diploma, or a certificate.

Step One: Request an application in one of these ways:

  • Stop by the Office of Admissions and Records on the first floor of the Wayne Learning Center in person and pick one up
  • Request an application through the mail via our information request form
  • Download the PDF Version Here - print it and complete.
  • Apply online via the College Foundation of North Carolina
  • Supplementary Residence forms, if necessary
    • Application for classification as a legal resident of NC for tuition purpose (Part II)
    • Application for the benefit of the in-state tuition rate as a member of the Armed Services or Dependent Relative thereof (Part III-for Active Duty service member or a dependent of an active duty service member)

Step Two: Return the completed application to the Office of Admissions and Records. Skip to Step Three if you applied online through CFNC.org.

Step Four: Complete placement testing and an admissions interview.

When these four steps are completed, you will be notified of your enrollment status.

*Limited Programs

The following programs are limited in the number of students who may be admitted each year. Applicants seeking admission to these programs should contact the Office of Admissions and Records. Limited health occupations applicants must complete separate applications and must meet specific application dates. Applicants to all of the programs below must complete additional admissions requirements.

  • Basic Law Enforcement Training
  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • Dental Assisting
  • Dental Hygiene
  • Medical Assisting
  • Phlebotomy
  • Practical Nursing
Individual Courses/Special Students:

Students who choose to take individual courses rather than to commit to a career program are considered special students. Special students may apply satisfactorily completed credit courses toward a degree or diploma at a later time if they wish.

Refunds

A refund shall not be made except under the following circumstances:

NOTE:
TUITION REFUNDS AND STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE REFUNDS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR AMOUNTS OF $5.00 OR LESS, EXCEPT WHEN A COURSE OR CURRICULUM IS CANCELLED; THEN ALL OF THE STUDENT'S TUITION AND FEES SHALL BE REFUNDED.
  • A 100% refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws prior to the first day of class(es) of the academic semester as noted in the college calendar.  Also, a student is eligible for a 100% refund if the class in which the student is officially registered is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.
  • A 75% refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws from the class(es) prior to or on the official 10% point of the semester.
  • For classes beginning at times other than the first week (seven calendar days) of the semester, a 100% refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws from the class prior to the first class meeting.  A 75% refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws from the class prior to or on the 10% point of the class.
